Neuropathy: Causes and Treatment
It is estimated that more than 20 million Americans suffer from neuropathy, which can be debilitating and greatly impact their quality of life. It can occur at any age, but is more common in older adults, and nearly 60% of all diabetic patients experience a form of neuropathy. It is estimated that 43% of the workforce suffers with neuropathic pain, and lost productivity for active workers costs employers approximately $90 billion.
Peripheral neuropathy is a disorder of the peripheral nerves—the motor, sensory and autonomic nerves that connect the spinal cord to muscles, skin and internal organs. It usually affects the hands and feet, causing weakness, numbness, tingling, and pain, which can be burning, sharp, jabbing, or “electrical.” Other symptoms include extreme sensitivity to touch, lack of coordination, muscle weakness or paralysis, and bowel or bladder problems. Sleep disturbance is also a significant issue for those suffering with neuropathic pain, which often leads to an increase in anxiety and depression.
For the cancer patient with chemotherapy induce peripheral neuropathy, the pain associated is one of the leading causes of why they will stop treatments early.
There are different causes of neuropathy. Approximately 30% of neuropathies are “idiopathic,” or of an unknown cause and another 30% stems from diabetes. Neuropathy can also result from such problems as traumatic injuries, autoimmune disorders, tumors, heredity, nutritional imbalances, metabolic problems, and exposure to toxins.
Drugs typically prescribed to treat neuropathy can produce serious side effects while introducing additional toxins into the body, adversely impacting the pain sufferer’s quality of life. Side effects of these common drugs include: swelling of the face, lips, and tongue; breathing problems; difficulty walking or controlling muscle movements; nausea; slurred speech; and tremors. The side effects have psychological impact, as well, with such manifestations as worsening of mood or thoughts/actions of suicide. “The person with nerve pain already has significant physical and emotional suffering,” says Lou Paradise, president and chief of research of Topical BioMedics and product formulator. “The last thing they need are drugs that further aggravate their problems—or even worse, exacerbates their anxiety and depression. They deserve the kind of relief they are looking for.”
Neuropathic pain is often a misfiring of nerve impulses caused by toxins and inflammation around the nerve tissue and surrounding micro-capillary, depriving the nerve of the oxygen it needs to function properly. Without oxygen, cells are destroyed. For healing to take place, the tissue needs to be detoxified and normal blood flow restored.
Topricin’s combination of 11 homeopathic biomedicines help the body rebalance healing chemistries needed to detoxify the area around the nerve tissue and restore normal oxygenated blood flow to the area—thus supporting an environment for normal nerve function and the beginning of easing neuropathic pain.
“Topricin has proven to be effective in resolving pain issues for individuals suffering from neuropathy, with many reporting that it has helped to reduce or eliminate their dependency on oral pain medications,” says Paradise. “This is a ground-breaking advancement, as the medical community has struggled for years to find viable treatment options for patients with nerve-related pain. With no other options at hand, they have had to rely on the pharmaceutical community, whose chemical-based drugs prove ineffective and compromise the health of the patient by causing more harm then good due to the serious side effects they pose. Chemical compounds/drugs attempt to treat the symptoms and not the cause of the problem, and as a result cannot provide the relief that people suffering with neuropathic pain seek.”
Topricin is made in America. It is paraben-and petroleum-free, has no side effects, no contraindications, and will not interfere with any other medications. “It is our company mission to provide self-help options that offer safe and effective pain relief,” says Paradise. “We are honored to have been awarded the patent for the topical treatment of neuropathy, as Topricin works with the body, supporting and stimulating the healing process to help heal the damage that is causing the pain.”
